about us
The Roots Way designs travels inspired by the principles of responsible tourism. We offer tours in the northern part of Italy, specifically in the area of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding mountains and beautiful valleys. Our tours focus on the direct encounter with people, small business, and organisations that are active in the area.
The Roots Way is the direction that we suggest to our travelers. To follow the roots means to go in depth, to search for meaningful stories, and to bring home unique and long lasting memories.
Behind the Roots Way is Ambra Molinari. An italian and danish speaking anthropologist with experiences in responsible tourism, community based projects and empowerment strategies, who has been based in Aarhus in Denmark since 2014.
Together with Ambra and The Roots Way, there is also the support of a network of well chosen and trusted partners along with local collaborators that are looking forward to meet you and ensure that you will have the best experience.
Our vision
The Roots Way wants to light up the hope that we will start to travel with a higher awareness for the environment, and to be more respectful and have a conscious approach towards the local communities that we wish to visit. The Roots Way believes in a necessary change in the travel industry that has to act more sustainable and responsible. A change that focuses more on smaller travel groups that visit less known (but not less enchanting) places, where you do not only bring a postcard home but rather the feeling of having encountered real people and their stories.
our mission
The Roots Way works toward:
-
Supporting local businesses and projects
-
Promoting a meaningful relation between tourists and individuals living in the travel areas
-
Decreasing the negative impact of mass tourism by encouraging people to travel more responsibly
